Membership fee and types

We believe in making professional excellence accessible to all educators. Our membership fees are structured to provide exceptional value, with different rates tailored to various membership types. These fees are transparently listed below. By investing in your membership, you’re not just gaining access to a wealth of resources and opportunities – you’re actively contributing to the advancement of our profession. Additional costs for specific events or resources are kept to a minimum for members.

For teachers employed to teach children aged 0-19 years in an early years, primary, secondary, further education or specialist setting.
£4.13 a month
For Early Career Teachers employed to teach children or young people aged 0-19 years in an early years, primary, secondary, further education or specialist setting.
£2 a month
For professionals currently working alongside teachers, or for those working in higher education, or in a not-for-profit organisation.

For education professionals currently working internationally.

For teaching assistants and those supporting teachers and learning in the classroom.

The Chartered College of Teaching is dedicated to supporting your career advancement at every stage. We offer comprehensive career development resources, including our Professional Framework and our Planning Your Professional Learning self-paced online course to support you to maximise your membership. Our Chartered Status pathways offer a clear route for personal and professional development with accreditation.

We recommend joining a union or an organisation like Edapt to provide legal services. Members of the Chartered College can get a 10% discount on Edapt membership and members of the National Association of Head Teachers can get 10% off Chartered College of Teaching membership.

As well as the Teacher Standards, our members must adhere to our Code of Professional Conduct that all members are expected to adhere to. This code embodies the core values and principles that define excellence in teaching, covering areas such as professional integrity, commitment to learners, and continuous professional development. By becoming a member, you’re signalling your commitment to these standards. We provide regular workshops and resources to help members understand and apply these standards. Adhering to this code enhances your professional credibility and contributes to raising the status and public trust in the teaching profession.

We offer numerous opportunities for members to take on influential roles. You can stand for election to join our Council, become a regional advocate, or commit to being a Research Champion within your setting. These leadership roles provide a platform for you to amplify your voice, develop new skills, and make a lasting impact on the teaching profession. By taking on these responsibilities, you’re actively contributing to the collective growth and empowerment of educators across the country.
