Research and evidence can play a key role in supporting decision-making in schools but translating research and evidence into the classroom is not always simple. This course has been designed to help you navigate the challenges of becoming evidence-informed. Whether you are a classroom teacher, school mentor, or school leader, this certified CPD unit will help you to develop the confidence to engage critically with research and apply this to your context.

Over the course of three months, this online unit will guide you through the essentials of evidence-informed practice. You’ll learn where to locate trustworthy research, how to navigate its use, and apply your learning to key debates in education. The course concludes with an innovative assessment that will enable you to demonstrate your expertise, apply your learning to your context, and receive formal certification for your learning.

Understanding evidence-informed practice: Learn how to locate trustworthy research and navigate the principles of evidence- informed practice with confidence.
Critical engagement with research: Recognise the importance of engaging critically with research evidence, evaluating the quality of sources, and claims made.
Practical application in your context: Identify implications for practice in your context and articulate your own informed perspective on key topics.
Expand your knowledge base: Engage with a curated selection of articles, videos, and reading lists from renowned experts and practising teachers relating to key areas of education research and current debates in education.

Successful completion of the course assessment will gain you 10 credits towards Chartered Status via any pathway (subject to eligibility).
